Blue

Essentially a cool and calming shade, blue has the reputation of the most liked color. The color of the sky and sea, blue is found in abundance in nature. Blue evokes tranquility, peace, calm and serenity. Even though blue may have a calming effect on the wearer, too much of blue might end up making you 'feel blue'. This shade is used on uniforms and it can be spotted a lot in the corporate world.

The versatile blue can be used all year round. Autumn/Winter sees deep shades of blue combined with other rich or metallic shades while in Spring/Summer light and breezy shades of blue are paired with other pastel shades such as pale pinks, greens and yellows. Graduated blue, blue with grey and with subtle shimmery metallic silver looks extremely elegant.

Blue looks better on fair and pale complexions, though there are few shades of blue which goes well with every skin tone. Silver, oxidized, black metal, copper, rhodium plated, white gold and platinum jewellery studded with sparkling stones are ideal with blue.
